Route 23

22 Pokémon can be caught at Route 23 in Kanto — highlighted on the map below.

Route 23 climbs from the Pokémon League Reception Gate up to Indigo Plateau in western Kanto, with Victory Road along the way. The road passes under a series of archways, each paired with a checkpoint where the player's Badges are verified, and a waterway splits the route into two halves. North of the water, grassy patches and scattered boulders give the area a look otherwise seen only in the Safari Zone. In the Generation II games the route shrinks to a tiny space between Victory Road's exit and the Plateau, and it is absent entirely in Generation IV.
