Route 3 links Striaton City with Nacrene City in southeastern Unova and provides the way into Wellspring Cave. Near its start stand a school full of battleable Preschoolers and a Pokémon Day Care, though in Black and White the route stays closed until Team Plasma is defeated at the Dreamyard and Fennel hands over the C-Gear. The Day Care initially holds one Pokémon; assisting the Day-Care Man against Team Plasma in Nimbasa City upgrades capacity to two, enabling breeding. Black and White players also find their first accessible dark grass here, and Surf later opens the pond's far shore.
