A paved road runs the length of Route 5, a short wooded stretch between Nimbasa City and the Driftveil Drawbridge. When first traversed in Black and White, Champion Alder appears and asks the player and Cheren to battle a pair of Preschoolers; after the main story, Cheren returns here to reflect before heading to Victory Road. A trailer on the road houses a maid who pays premium prices for cooking ingredients. In the sequels, Bianca shows the player a Hidden Grotto containing a Minccino with Skill Link, and a Breeder sells five random friendship-raising Berries daily for $200.
