Bikers and Roughnecks patrol Route 9, a short forested road linking the Tubeline Bridge with Opelucid City in Unova's north-central area, with Shopping Mall Nine standing along its northern side. Winding bands of tall and dark grass fill the route's southern portion. In Black and White, stairs at the path's end lead to Challenger's Cave, guarded by a Black Belt until the game is completed. In the sequels that cave is sealed off, a Hidden Grotto appears beside the mall, and ice from the frozen Opelucid City forces players to slide their way to the mall's entrance.
