Route 8

21 Pokémon can be caught at Route 8 in Kanto — highlighted on the map below.

Route 8 crosses eastern Kanto from Saffron City to Lavender Town, its dirt road bending in a sideways S past fields and meadows. A fenced-off field along the way can be entered through gaps blocked by cuttable trees, and inside lies the route's only tall grass, ringed by red flowers and home to rare version-exclusive Pokémon like Growlithe and Vulpix. In Generations I, III, and VII the Saffron gate stays shut until its guard receives a drink or Tea, forcing travelers through the Underground Path toward Celadon City instead.
