The Johto adventure begins in New Bark Town, the player's hometown in the region's southeast and the site of Professor Elm's lab, where new Trainers choose Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile. Route 29 heads west, while Routes 26 and 27 make the town the necessary gateway toward Tohjo Falls, the Indigo Plateau, and Victory Road.
