Route 12 traces the coast of eastern Kanto, joining Route 11 in the west with Lavender Town to the north and Route 13 to the south. Nearly the whole route consists of a long wooden span over the water, and the stretch south of the gate near Lavender Town carries the name Silence Bridge. The bridge winds through multiple intersections and dead-end forks, passes a fishing pier and a small island, and includes a designated Sport Fishing Area near the junction with Route 11.
