Deep sand takes the place of tall grass on Route 4, a desert corridor in central Unova running from Castelia City up toward Nimbasa City with a branch toward the Desert Resort. Black and White depict it as a half-finished road lined with construction sites, a freeway carrying speeding trucks overhead, and Fishermen on a seaside cliff; passage requires Burgh's badge. Two years later the route diverges by version: Black 2 shows the settlement and road fully built, while in White 2 construction stopped when ancient ruins were unearthed. In the sequels, Crustle block the road until Colress intervenes.
