When to Use Hardy

Hardy is a blank slate: no stat moves in either direction. That's never a problem for casual play, but it also means the Pokémon leaves a free 10% boost on the table. If it becomes a keeper, a Nature Mint can give it the stat spread of any other Nature without changing the Nature itself.

Not sure which boost to aim for? Start with the full Nature chart and pick the stat your Pokémon actually fights with.

A Nature is only a third of the stat story — pair it with EV training and strong IVs to get the most out of any Pokémon.

Hardy Nature Questions & Answers

What does the Hardy Nature do?
Nothing at all — Hardy is one of the five neutral Natures. No stat is raised or lowered, and the Pokémon has no Berry flavor preference.
Is Hardy a good Nature?
It's never harmful, but it also gives nothing. Any Pokémon usually gains more from a Nature whose penalty lands on a stat it doesn't use — or, from Sword & Shield onward, from a Nature Mint.
